Rachel McAdams Biography
Born on 7 October 1976, in London, Ontario, Canada Rachel Mcadams is a Canadian actress. Rachel grew up in nearby St. Thomas, Ontario. Her father Lance is a truck driver, and mother Sandy is a nurse. She has one younger brother Daniel and younger sister Kayleen. When she was four, she started figure skating and skated competitively throughout high school. While when she was 13, she started acting in summer theater camp opened nearby, where she was performing in productions of Shakespeare. She was always wanted to be an actress. From grade nine to OAC McAdams attended Central Elgin Collegiate Institute in St. Thomas. Rachel won her first acting award in 1995 for the high school play "I Live In A Little Town" featured in the Ontario Showcase of the Sears Drama Festival. Later she graduated from York University with honors and a B.F.A (Bachelor of Fine Arts) degree in theatre.
Rachel's first professional onscreen role as Hannah a girl with bulimia in the Disney series "The Famous Jett Jackson, (1998-2002)", and later followed with a pilot for MTV with starring role in "Shotgun Love Dolls (2001)". She worked in several movies-of-the-week, including "Guilt By Association" (2002), which is her first original movie to be produced by Court TV.
Rachel come up with a debut film "My Name is Tanino" in 2001 which was a comedy, while "Perfect Pie" in 2002 was her breakout role which led her to a nomination for a Genie Award (Canadian award equivalent to Oscar).
Rachel's Hollywood career starts in 2002 with "The Hot Chick", which is a teen comedy about a mean-spirited high school girl. McAdams career really took off when she starred as Regina George, queen-bee, another mean girl role in "Mean Girls (2004)". In this film she is starred opposite Hollywood It-Girl Lindsay Lohan. Mean Girls gives her fame, which was a big hit and she won rave reviews for the role.
Followed with Mean Girls, a big success came for Rachel McAdams with the film "The Notebook (2004)" starring opposite Ryan Gosling. The Notebook is the adaptation of Nicholas Sparks' best-selling novel of the same name "The Notebook". "The Notebook" is the story about a young couple who meet in their teens and are reunited after World War II. The story is told by an elderly man (Garner) in flashbacks to the love of his life (Rowlands), who is reading their love story from a cherished notebook. Rumors are floating around that Rachel is currently dating with her Notebook co-star, Ryan Gosling. But it is not confirmed by either celeb.
In 2005, she starred opposite Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson in "The Wedding Crashers", in which she played a role of the engaged daughter of an important political leader. Followed with Wes Craven's "Red Eye (2005)", which is thriller, where she played a role of hotel employee. Her recent film is "The Family Stone (2005)", which is a comedy where she starred with Diane Keaton, Craig T. Nelson, Sarah Jessica Parker, Dermot Mulroney, Luke Wilson and Claire Danes.
Rachel McAdams recently made a record of five nominations, and three wins, at the MTV Movie Awards in 2005. Rachel was nominated for Genie Award (Canadian equivalent for Oscar) for her role in "Perfect Pie" in 2003 and won the Gemini Award for her role in "Slings and Arrows" in 2004. She also has own four ShoWest Award for film "The Notebook".
McAdams was #1 on MuchMusic's "Who To Do: 20 Sexiest Girls" list, in December 2005. She beat competition including Jessica Alba, Beyoncé Knowles, and Jessica Simpson. In 2005, McAdams was voted the #101 on FHM's list of Sexiest Women in the World. Rachel McAdams hosted Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science's 2006 Scientific and Technical Awards.
