She's no Mean Girl: Amanda Seyfried donates to charity with a box of old clothes

Generous: Amanda Seyfried drops off some supplies for the Goodwill of Southern California charity in Los Angeles yesterday

She may have rose to fame as a Mean Girl.

But Amanda Seyfried showed a rather more kind-spirited side yesterday as she dropped off a donation of clothes for a Los Angeles-based charity.

Either that, or she was clearing some draw space for her new beau Ryan Phillippe.

Amanda looked rather fetching in a pair of short shorts - a garment she was clearly fond of and had decided to keep - as she hauled a heavy box of goodies to a Goodwill of Southern California centre.

The 25-year-old star teamed her casual look with a baggy tie-dye top, which perhaps she should have considered adding to the pile, and a pair of flip flops.

The make-up free actress hid behind a pair of sunglasses during her outing as she made the quick drop while running errands.

The Goodwill of Southern California is a charity set up in 1916 to help people with disabilities get into work by providing education and training.

It operates 65 retail stores and 42 donation centres, with donations providing an important stream of revenue to fund the service.

Amanda has been quietly dating Phillippe since they first met at a Halloween party at Kate Hudson's house last year.

A source recently told Hollywood Life: 'Amanda’s smitten. Ryan is very charming and he brings out a very giddy side in her. '

Amanda previously dated British actor Dominic Cooper, 32.

They had an on-again off-again relationship after meeting on the set of the 2008 film, Mamma Mia.

Ryan dated Australian actress Abbie Cornish after his marriage to Reese Witherspoon ended in 2006.

Reese, 34, who is the mother of his two children Ava, 11, and Deacon, seven, is now engaged to Hollywood talent agent Jim Toth.
